Within the XOOPS CMS, it displays the incorrect current time when I add content like News or Photos despite the setting in "Preferences" being correct as well as the setting in my host Control Panel.

I am Eastern US (GMT -4) but the current Time displays GMT -1. For example, when it should read 15:50, it instead reads 19:50.

I find no other place other than system/preferences/ where this can be changed. Is there some other setting I need to know about?

Thanks in advance.

You can also set your user time from your Edit Account. And, sometimes modules have and require you to set the time for them in the modules settings. If you don't then it will default.

Thank you, however, neither module requires a time setting. The setting in Both "Edit Account" and system/preferences are correct but still no luck.

make sure that you set both the server timezone and default timezone correctly.

e.g. if server is in eastern timezone (GMT-5), you should set server timezone to GMT-4 (note now USA is in Daylight saving time) and if you are in Hong Kong (GMT+8), the default timezone should be set to GMT+8.

Even after that, the time may not be displayed correctly if you use non-IE browser! Don't know why, but, for example, IE display my local time correctly at 5/23, 8:30pm, Firefox shows my posted news at 5/23, 12:30pm (lag behind 8hrs)!

Can any one know what's going on?

It seems that Firefox shows only GMT0 timezone! As when I changed the default timezone to GMT0, IE shows 12:30pm too while Firefox keeps it at 12:30pm!

Hope this information is helpful!
