Answers to some of these questions may help us to help you. In particular we need a bit of background as to when and how the problem started. Your php error log has 'notices' and these don't usually cause problems to the workings of a page.

This is not a new installation. It was working and suddenly quit. Yes, when I attempt to submit a news article the page comes up with the word "error" at the top left and the rest of the page is blank. I uninstalled the 1.2 news module and attempted to install the new version 1.44. Received the following error message.

"Table'xoops_stories_files' alread exists
Unable to install

Now I have no news module at all. Just started looking at the upgrade process for 2.0.15. I inherited this site and have very little experience down in the trenches. I am not a programmer or code savvy.

Any guidance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like your server had a newer version of PHP installed recently, which might have broken your XOOPS site.

I would definitely recommend upgrading your version of XOOPS to 2.0.15.
