Please change the permission of this file for security reasons.
in Unix (444), in Win32 (read-only)"

OK... how do I do that....????? I have no idea..

This means u must change the fileattribute to 444 (do it quickly). Normally we say chmod, login ftp to your server, in the most ftp programs click the files with the right mousebutton and now change the attribute to 444. Near the mainfile.php u must give the follow folder chmod 777.

- cache
- templates_c
- uploads

However, I am not sure what to do...

OK, does that mean that I (in Dreamweaver) right click the file mainfile.php and press 444 (somewhere).

Then I change the fileattribute on those three folders (this time not a file, but three folders):
- cache
- templates_c
- uploads

Did I understand that correctly..?

PS. If I did, I still need a little more help, because there is no obvious place to change atributes when right clicking in dreamweaver. There is a "cloaking" option that I don't know what is.

Btw.. why do I even need to do this?

Everything works fine, so I assume it is a security issue?

You do not use Dreamweaver (which is a html editor) to change permissions.. you will need to use the FTP software you uploaded XOOPS with.

Yes, you need to change your permissions for security purposes.

I did upload the site and modules etc with Dreamweaver. I used to use FTP programs, but for the last couple of years I have been using Dreamweaver. Never CHMODed though.

Yes, you're right - I forget it does have an FTP type facility

Which version do you use? I'll see if I can help on that.

I think I may have to download an extention in order to do that... as far as I am reading by searching the internet now..

After reading up a little, it doesnt appear to give many controls for file permissions - so you may be better getting a free ftp program for this purpose.

I use SmartFTP myself - which is not too difficult to use (although CuteFTP is quite a good one as well)

1. I found a way to do it in Dreamweaver. If anyone ever needs it they are welcome to ask me. It is a long and weaird road, so yeah - it would be at least as easy to just get another FTP program.. Eventhough that would also take a little time to set up.

2. It seems that the server will not accept it. I could change the folders to 777 etc. but the file mainfile.php stays 644. Does anyone know enough about CHMOD and permissions to tell me if that is a problem, and why the server wont accept the change?
