A full description of the issue:

I have installed CBB/newbb and it installed successfully. I then went to the configuration for the module and clicked on the "Categories" tab and created two new categories. I saved everything, went back to the home page, clicked on "Forum" and when the resulting page came up there were no categories visible. Everything else was there (e.g., "Welcome to" message, the "Main Options" menu, the "users online" section, etc.) just not the forum categories. I went back to the module settings page and those categories are visible under the "Categories" and "Forums" tab, and under the Categories tab they both show "Active". The "Global Access Level" is set for everybody. They have different "Category Positions". Everything looks correct, I get no errors or anything out of the ordinary ... I just don't get the forum categories displayed to me.

This is something that works for me sometimes. I go to modules adminisration, and update the script. You might also want to clear out the cache folder, not to mention templates_c of all but the index.html.

I did all that but still no joy.

It's the weirdest thing ... the entire page looks like it is working properly ... just no categories.

Okay ... apparently I wasn't familiar with the inner workings of Xoops.

I created the categories and they showed up in the "Categories" and "Forums" tabs. However, what I wasn't aware of is that I needed to go to the "Forums" tab then click on the "+forum" button to actually add the categories to the page.

I just wanted to say thanks NoSalt. I've been working on setting up my forums all day. I had the same problem, create a forum topic in admin then you couldn't see it out on the main page after clicking on forums. It would indicate topics 0. The little button "+forum" slipped right by me. But, it's working now, again thanks.
