Have you downloaded the XOOPS administation doc from documentation? Checked the FAQ's - beginners first steps, modules and themes? Its all there. In the Faq's you will also find links to some very easy to follow tutorials.

Please help me I am encountering this error

Unable to install news. Error(s):

Unable to write to main menu.


i saved a back up of the XOOPS directory and the database.
i was modifying and studying the themes and the codes,then suddenly my XOOPS wont run, then i restore my back up and when i was installing the news module there was an error

please help me. thanks!

Check your file permissions - again in the admin manual or the FAQ's you should find exactly with files need to have what for their 'chmod'.
