i have this problem with news 1.44 and Any language that exceed the maximum allowed characters.

os course persian is utf-8 so maximum characters in persian is one half less than english.

Can you confirm with this?

As far as I learn, php 5.0* still has the problem.
PCRE had some enhancement on the issue, not sure if the specific problem is covered, or whether PHP 5.1* has upgraded to the proper PCRE package.

Yes
in my running site i switch to php5 ( thanks to support) and now the long text works fine
PHP Version 5.1.4
PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions) Support enabled
PCRE Library Version 6.6 06-Feb-2006
Mysql Version 4.1.19-standard

now i just have internal server error when someone forgot to end lang tags like:

[en] .....

does it can be solved again?
@ moderator:
plz change the name of this topic to a more sensible one like:

"xlanguage internal server error: news module, long text, open tags"

I have the problem in my localhost, using WAMP5 1.64: http://www.wampserver.com, php 5.1.4 and MySQL 5.0.22.

But there is no problem in my website host: php 5.1.2 and MySQL - 5.0.19-log.

I use XOOPS 2.0.14 UTF-8, TinyD 2.2, xlanguage 3.0.
How can I fix my localhost's wamp5 bug?

humm i dont know about this PCRE problem.
but i can confirm that in php 5.1.4 this problem is back agian!!!
but i dont have the problem with php 5.1.1 and 5.1.2

very strange indeed

the "open tags" in xlanguage is the very important problem because a user can put a open tag and damage all page.

i think now it can be used in non-user base sites.otherwise it is not safe.
