Hi -

This query was part of another thread, but at the request of Bender I am starting a new thread.

Although I am selecting "notify me of new posts in this thread" at the bottom of my posts, I am not receiving email notification. I have been monitoring my junk mail folder along the way, also.

Bender asked that I address the following questions, so responses are below:

***************
- are you subsribed to different threads or forums?

No. As a newbie, I used the search module to look for an answer to my question, and, not finding the answer, I started the thread "New Install, Modules Admin Shows No Modules."

- can you see your subscription when you are logged in, enter your user menu and go into notifications?

Yes.

- did you try unsubscribing and then subscribing again?

No. But I'll try subscribing to this one.

- did it work in the past for you?

N/A

- does it work when you subscribe to a forum instead of a thread?

I'll try it.
*********************

I received a nice email from jensclas testing to see if she could reach my email address itself. But notifications are still not reaching me. (I found the message from Bender on the other thread about three days late).

Insights appreciated.

Thanks all,

Greg

If you edit your account using the Edit Account link on the left, is Notification Method set to "Email (use address in my profile)"?

Is Default Notification Mode set to "Notify me of all selected updates"?

It is possible that the email server has blocked emails from Xoops.org .. I've certainly not heard of other users with this problem?

Ok, you can all move on now from helping the new village idiot. :)

I suppose the default notification method is private message. I never noticed this when I registered on the site, and would never have thought of it - I don't use instant messaging, and I only use private messaging when it's self-contained within, say, a virtual classroom.

So to me "notification" has always meant email.

I'm going to assume that with the next response I'll be notified just fine. :)

Thanks again all -

Greg
