Is my database broken?

Hi, all.

I'm new to XOOPS (which is why I'm here), and I have it installed on a shared hosting account paid for through a major domain registrar/hosting provider. I just want to know if it's been installed correctly. It seems to work fine most of the time, but for some reason Avatars refuse to save on a user's account (I choose an Avatar, click submit, it says it's been saved but still doesn't show up in the profile or on the forums), and the user search page in the admin section doesn't find anything unless all the options are left blank. Is there a problem with the way it was installed? Is there a way to fix this without losing my data?

Is something wrong with newbb??? Im seeing double \ triple reposts everywhere.....


Does your upload folder have write permissions?

Actually, that double-post is my fault. Sorry.

Checked the uploads folder, and it's write-enabled. I was able to upload the avatars just fine through the admin area. The problem comes in when I try to choose an avatar on a user account. I select the avatar from the list, and the user's profile just doesn't update.

I don't have a lot of info on the server (remember, it's purchased shared hosting), but I can tell you that it's running Apache 1.3, MySql 4.0.24, and XOOPS 2.2.3

Just cause it is shared doesnt mean you cant learn :). I operate a hosting company ;)


I have only used the new series of XOOPS once and I didnt like it, had TOO MANY issues. So Im of no help :(. The 2.2.x series isnt promoted though or recommend for mass use yet.

Apache version is a little out of date, first host i have seen in a long time still on 1.x .

But enable php and MySQL debugging and post the individual results here...

See what we can do!!

Also have you tried the newer XOOPS 2.3 ??
