I second that thought -- use whatever module turns your crank (news, bbs, downloads, whatever).

But *don't* use the XML that XOOPS (or RSSFit, or whatever) produces -- those XML-generators don't grok enclosures and all the other goodies that the aggregators want. That's the value of post-processing your XML through Feedburner.

Think I've found a solution. Using phppp's WordPress module with this WP podcast plugin and this Feedburner plugin for WordPress is supposed to do the trick. I'm setting it up this evening; hopefully all goes well.

Just a matter of having a module to keep track of the mp3, its length and its type.

Perhaps a slight modification of one of the downloads modules to support this feature for audio files hosted locally? Definitely doable, I should say.



Please don't keep it to mp3, you should allow video enclosure. And that is called video casting or vodcasting.

In anwser to Podcast as module, I will try making this into a XOOPS module,in a few days when I rest, unless some one else wants to have a go first....

PodAdmin== you could wrap XOOPS around it to have it as a module in no time...

The podcast plug-ins work great with WordPress - but not the XOOPS version. They cause Internal Server Errors, and Error Handler messages and pretty much wrecked my site and database. I'll try to give it a shot this weekend with the latest version of Xpress, but I have a feeling that it's a lost cause for the moment. I'll either go with the stand-alone version of WordPress, or figure something out with one of the news modules.

Feedburner plug-ins seem to work okay.

Yep, i gotta agree. i goofed around with the WordPress plugins and they're not robust enough -- way too many quirks (under XOOPS 2.13.0.2 anyway) for me to endorse that approach.

The fun continues.

Does anyone have any experience with Zina? According to the description, it offers podcast features. I'll give it a whirl this weekend, but a little foreknowledge might be helpful.
