Here is an interesting question I wasnt sure about.

Stacking by weight causes a downward cascade by default.

I want weight to cause blocks to cascade to the side.....

lowest would be left, highest would be right.

or even better if two cl blocks have the same weight they stack next to one another instead of on top.

possible?

Weight only determines the order in which the blocks are sent to the array, so I'm not sure if the 'same weight = horizontal' thing can work right now without adding this logic to the rendering engine.

Indeed, blocks weight is not a "smartified" value. Thus your suggestion would require a Core modification.

Having this value in a smarty would help design the site the way you want.

I agree I think that this woul really increase the flexibility in design.
