Unable to update News 1.44 block option

I've just upgraded my News module from v1.1 to v1.44.

Everything seems to be working fine except that I am unable to change some of the Recent News block options.

In particular, I can't seem to change the Length of the title from 25 to any other value.

I've tried disabling caching, but the length returns to the default value after I clicked submit.

I've doubled check to make sure I have the Module Admin rights to the module.

What am I doing wrong? BTW my XOOPS version is 2.0.10, this is for one of my older sites.

I don't know if this will solve the problem but if you are into upgrading why not upgrade your XOOPS to 2.0.13.2?

I also think you problem will probebly be solved when you have upgraded you site.

I think you should upgrade your site also when you did not have any problems. There where a few security fixes in the upgrades you missed. So...

Have you made sure the templates are refreshed also, and you don't have old files around that aren't needed, as this can make a mess of it also, as I have found in the past.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. I've tried upgrading my News module for my latest site (Xoops v2.0.13.2) but still having the same problem.

I've also removed and reinstall the module but the problem persists.

I've also made sure to update the module and update my Preferences General Settings.

All the News template files have been chmoded to 777.

Still I am unable to change the Length of the title for the Recent News block.

Any other ideas?

I seem to have that problem as well. The recent news block just disappears if I try to change the default settings. I think i had this problem in earlier versions of News as well but for some reason it worked. But now I've updated the module to 1.44 and the problem has reoccured. The only way to make the block reappear for is to update the news module in the admin panel, which brings every news related block back to their default settings, so it doesn't help. I also upgraded to 2.0.13.2 and that didn't help either.

edit: i tried increasing the title length bit by bit and it seems to work... weird.

Hmmm could be...I vaguely recall someone suggestiong the use of spotlight module instead of recent news but I don't have time right now to look for it. You could give that a go.

Just in case anyone else has this problem...

My recent news block would disapear from my home page after changing the block's preferences to include some teaser text.

I solved the problem by making sure that at the bottom of the block preferences there where news topics selected.
