distorted images in theme

i managed to install apache and my sql and most importantly i am really enjoying
using XOOPS on my local pc. It is realling interesting because i can virtually build my whole site on my pc before uploading.

However, i have a problem. I use photoshop to design banner and other banner and logo images. However when i save them in the maximum format and embed in a theme,
the images appear distorted (very distorted). But when i save the images in photoshop (7 and CS) as very low quality, they appear.

it is really a bother since i can really feel the banners i have designed.
Any help or advice will be really appreciated.

Kind of depends on what you mean by distorted. Are you creating logo images and then uploading them to your site to replace the existing logo.gif or logo.jpg or logo.png files? There could be a very slight possibility that there are already width and height dimensions set up in the theme.html file that you need to change to suit your image's dimensions.

distorted ... that is the image i want to use appears in the theme in deffernt colours, pixilates and basically not like what it is to be.

I have checked on the file sizes and all....

Please help.

How does it look in different browsers - Firefox vs. Internet Explorer?

Its more than likely the format that you are saving the images in... You should gear yorself torwards saving as .gif, and when the save options come up be sure to save for "web"
