Removing 'Posted By'

You know when you post a new news topic etc it says

Posted by Admin or whoever. Is there a way of removing this so it just has the news article and not who posted it.

I think in the admin -> news -> preferences there was an option "Author's name (Select how to display the author's name)" with real name, user name, do not display autor.
..

What version of the news module are you using?

You could also edit templates to remove it, or chage the color of the text in css file, so it blends in the background and will not be visible.

If I changed the colour of the text, where would this .css file be?

you may try to upgrade the module (make back up first)

as for the css - this is not the best or proper way to do it. It is in your themes -> the theme you use folder in file style.css. Look for ".itemPoster"

How would I upgrade the module and I thought the 1.1 was the latest of it.

If I remember, there was an extra step, so read the readme file in modules archive. And make a back up. If possible experiment on a test site first.

Thanks. I've installed the update. Works fine and I can now remove a posters name.

Hi,

Connect with your site via FTP software then go to:

puplic_html/modules/news/templates

then edit news_item.html file and remove this line:

<{if $story.poster != ''}><span class="itemPoster"><{$lang_postedby}> <{$story.poster}></span><{/if}>


then update news module from admin panel.
