Hi all,

I have a query regarding the upgrading of XOOPS form 2.0.7 to 2.0.13.2

Instead of updating all the patches, can i just use the new XOOPS 2.0.13.2 and move the modules to new version. Ofcourse, i will use the previous database itself.

Will this work ?? I tried this and it looks working.

Do i need to take care of anything ??

Please help.

Thanks and Regards,

Manoj.

As you say it works perfect this. It's wise however to clean out templates_c and update all module and prevent sudden malfunction.

After you did that you're safe.
Oracle: I'd ask you to sit down, but, you're not going to anyway. And don't worry about the vase.
Neo: What vase?
[Neo turns to look for a vase, and as he does, he knocks over a vase of flowers, which shatters on the floor.]
Oracle: That vase.
Neo:...

Thanks for the reply..

Jus One more query. Please tell me if this method is OK for upgrading.

1)Backup DB and files (drop DB and delete files on server)
2)install fresh XOOPS 2.0.13.2
3)install templates and copy themes that i use in prod site
4)drop DB and restore backup prod database
5)copy all the modules from Backup (except that are present by default)

Thanks and Regards,

Manoj.

Since there have been no DB changes since 2.0.7.3.(Although checking is more prudent)

1. Backup Files and DB
2. Upload 2.0.13.2 files to the site, over the existing 2.0.7.3 (except the install and modules you don't want. Be careful to not overwrite modules with older versions, as the package may have older versions.)
3. Empty cache and templates_c
4. Update the System and other modules.

Using the assumption you are on the same webspace, it is not necessary to do anything to the DB such as emptying, recreating, repopulating. Simply the files.

The DB backup is there in case evertything gets mixed up.

Cheers.
