Am I right in thinking your not allowed to remove the XOOPS (c) mark at the bottom of XOOPS powered sites?

No, you can get rid of it. I know plenty of sites that don't have it if you don't belive me. Search the forums and you will find proof

You are perfectly entitled to remove it if you wish. It's just a 'preference' to leave it on your site (which is why it's there by default) for the XOOPS community to help spread the word.

It's not related to copyright. XOOPS is distributed under GNU.
