I want to apologize before I hand, if this question gets a little confusing. heh, I'm wore out, but I want to get this posted before I go to bed.

Ok, I have this concept that I can't seem to get to work. I wanted to start a group of registered users, that could submit their short stories for others to enjoy. I started a new group, and gave them Module Admin rights to the Short Story page. Yet, for some reason, I can't let my test accoutn add anything. Does that make sense?

Thanks For Your Time,
Nelos

P.s. I dunno if i'm suppose to post it or not, so I'll go ahead an add the link to my site: http://www.marketheredge.net

What XOOPS Version? If it is 2.13 then I can ask some things that might help you out...

In your admin page go to system admin and click on groups. there is a table at the top of all your user groups. Click 'modify' on the short story registered user group you created - (What name did you give the group?) If you want this group to be 'different' from the usual registered user it is easier for you to give them a name of their own.

Now you should have a table that allows you to tick (or untick) boxes for module access rights. Make sure there is a tick in the box for the module you are using for their stories.

Next question is what module are you actually using for the stories? Go to that module and chack the access rights. For example, if you are using wf section, click on that module in admin and click on 'permissions'. For each 'access' you can ad the user group - for example 'Approve documents' could give this story writing group permission to approve their stories for publication.

Hope this helps - but you will need to let us know what specific module you are using if you need more help.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get a reply in, my mind has been occupied with other matters. To answer your first question, I am running XOOPS version 2.0.13.1.
As for what module I am using, I am using Sections v1. Maybe thats the problem? I went into the admin pages, and gave them Module Admin access to the Sections page. However, when I log in with my test account, to see if it works, I can't find a way to access the Sections page. 0.o

Hope this information helps,
Nelos

Re: Help With Sections

I don't know amything about the sections module - maybe someone else here does. What you could to is 'search' on 'sections' and see what comes up, go to the modul repositpry, find sections and use the links from the creator and comments to go on a hunt for more information.

The alternative is to move from the sections module to wf section module- now called smart section - there's heaps of backup for it too. Smart Factory

The other simple thing to try of course is double check all your permission settings both in the module and in your general admin...

Tried a php debug to see if anything comes up?

Yep - only guessing but these are things I would be doing.

The original Section was a bit limited. SmartSection (which is different from WF-Section.. but a lot nicer to use ) will certainly be more powerful.
