It's not really a good idea for this, as being an alpha version - it's really only intended for use by testers, module coders, etc - rather than for production.

You'd be best waiting for the next alpha release on devteam.xoops.org - as that's going to be more suitable for users ... alpha1 is available from there at the moment if you want to experiment.

for anyone who wants to help out development, please keep an eye on the devteam site for posts announcing progress and new developer releases, and subscribe to the sf.net XOOPS cvs trackers, where all cvs and svn commits will be sent to you by e-mail. The commit comments are the development update reports. There's no need to post everything everywhere when it's there to find for anyone with a bit of development experience. Skalpa will try and post more updates on the devteam site, so not everything will have to be followed thru the trackers.

Well this is the problem..http://devteam.xoops.org/ is not really updated . I always like testing different stuff.
Ok then i will wait for alpha2 on the devteam page. I still think that some nightly builds/ weekly at least would be great

The builds will doubtless be updated more regularly now Skalpa has more use of his arm back

I know that I shoudn't care about numbers but XOOPS 3 prealpha2 sounds better :P.

I'm not sure if Skalpa wants to cater for nightly or weekly builds (certainly not available through this website here, as those builds are developer releases at best, not even ready for feature testing, more for coding), but you can always get an anonymous checkout of the svn branches yourself. This is as good as a nightly build, easy to keep updated with the latest changes, and easy to follow. Just have a read through the sf.net svn documentation and give it a try

Again, don't expect many user features in the alpha commits in the svn yet. These are mostly architecturural 'below the surface' changes that are made, like ROwd explains in her post. If you want to test if a feature works, you'll have to wait. If you're a coder and want to see what is going on, by all means, check it out

Herko well i was thinking at a script similar with the one that e107 had for 0.7 ;).
I will look at the cvs. I was confused before because i was looking for a 2.3/3 branch :)

don't look in the cvs, look in the SVN.

But this is exactly my point: if you have time, just do it. If you don't have time - acknowledge it and let other people do it, so the project can move on. Let make an OpenSource project like XOOPS a COMMUNITY project, and NOT a project where somebody is still a project/team leader on paper, just because he did something in the past, or because he is a nice person. If somebody is longer than 3 months out - he should resign. Very simple. If he has time again, he can come back and contribute. If somebody REALLY "does it for love", it shouldn't matter to them if they are team members, or team leaders as long as XOOPS moves forward.

Now that's a dev site, the core developers don't have to be the ones that update, it *CAN* be someone else.

There needs to be a TEAM, not Skalpa..
