How to change a field title for user reg form?

How do I change the field title when a user registers and edits his profile from "nickname" to something else?

I am a seasoned programmer (asm, C, C++, Basic, VB) but just learning PHP.

In your administration section go to Modules-->Extended Profiles-->Fields. I think that will work.

I take that back. You have to make a change in a language file.

Go into your site's modules folder and look for a folder called "profile." Inside it is a folder called "language." Inside that is a folder called "english." View the files in there until you find the field(s) you want to change. They will most likely be in "main.php." Be careful not to delete any quotation marks.
