Problem with banners

I added a banner to my website but clicking on it won't work. It seems to count the click but it won't open a new page. It's strange because the cursor changes over it. The original XOOPS banners also worked fine, it's the newly added ones that have a problem.
The problem exists with some browsers like IE, Firefox, iCab etc. Safari works fine.

I just started having the same problem. The second window will pop up (http://mycommunity.com/site/banners.php?op=click&bid=8) but will remain blank and not load the Click-through URL. This is in IE only. FireFox seems to work fine.

I also noticed that when I visit the site (http://www.mycommunity.com) with the www. in front, the banners will do what is described above but if the address does not have the www. (http://mycommunity.com) the banners work fine? Can anyone shed some light.

thanks in advance,
Doug

I notice in your example that your banner url (1st url you provided) doesn't have the www. in it. If you have it that way in your banner administration then this could be the problem.
I click on, or copy and past the 2d URL you provided for direct to mycommunity.com and either way works fine. I am using IE. So I really think both of you guys problems are within your banner administration and how you have your url typed in for the click through.

Thanks for your reply Quest. The click through URL that I input does have the full address including the www. The first URL you referenced that I provided was created automatically from the XOOPS banner function within the system module.

I went ahead and tried the first URL with a www. but it still did not work so even if I could hack that into the code, it would not help.

Thanks again,
Doug

Am I the only person having this problem? It is doing the same thing on all 3 of my XOOPS sites. Could the problem have to do with the site being located within a sub folder rather than at the main folder? (i.e. www.site.com/subfolder/index.php rather than www.site.com/index.php)?

Thanks in advance,
Doug

If you still get the blank page, try turning on php debug in the admin and try it again and look out for any error messages displayed on the "blank" page.

Come back after you've done this.

I don't get a blank page... Clicking on the banner won't open any page. It won't do a thing!

Still, turn on the php debug and report everything that's displayed there.

Can't help you if you don't provide more info.
