Dear All

Some magical thing happening with my site. You guys wont believe it. Hope someone can help me out.

I have some modules like articles, stories, newbb etc in my /modules/ directory.

I go to admin>modules and can see them installed. I uninstall the module and delete it from the server.

The module is still shown there. I initially thought it might be some problem with xoops.

Now the magical part. Even though the module is removed from my server (I HAVE DOUBLE, NO TRIPLE CHECKED THIS), I can INSTALL it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How is it possible that I can install a module which is not there in my server?

I have updated the system module and checked it, but it still is there.

Now when I add a new module to /modules/, it doesnt show up!

Whats the problem?

please help me.

cheers

Thats because of the caching sytem.

U must have enabled caching in ur site and thats wat caused all this.

no guys, the problem has come back. I can still see modules in the admin page which are not there on my server.

by the way is the cache thing disabled in admin>pref>last rows right?

Cache shoudn't affect this, it only effects blocks and modules on the front side (AFAIK).

When you re-install the module, could it be accessed from the front side? Sounds more like a database issue, where u've deleted the files, but there is still stuff in the database related to those modules.

yes, I tried the guestbook module and its accesible and I could sign into the guestbook.

The thing which baffles me is it says during installation..../blahblah/modules/myguestbook/sql file found and then all the messages and installed sucessfully.

I dont have that file on my server. I double triple checked it and there is no dir. with name myguestbook in the modules dir.

actually I thought maybe the wsftp is screwing up so i logged on directly into my webhost and cross checked it,
