I was wondering if anyone could help with some centerblock ordering issues. I have been working on the site http://www.crossroadstechreport.com. The site is set in the system preferences to open to http://www.crossroadstechreport.com/modules/news.
There is a custom block which I'm using to display a banner ad, then the news block content and what I'd like to do is put a custom block for sponsors with their logos below the news block. The issue is that no matter how I order it in the block admin section the block for sponsors always appears above the news content. Any ideas how to make it appear below the news content?

Blocks can only (without a hack) be either above or below block content. My suggestion would be not to use the news module on the main page and instead use a spotlight block to feature your current news.

That way since the news is in a block you can order the page as you want.

Ok I think I am lost here. I am using news module 1.44 and I tried the same thing that sherpakid tried with the same result. So I tried what you suggested jdseymour by using a block to display news. In the block section I picked recent news as the block and then told it to spotlight the news to center left. The I did another recent news and spotlighted that to center right. Here is my issue, for one yes the news article shows up on the left and on the right like I wanted but other articles from the same category are listed as links right under my article and I don't want that. I also noticed that once you have a left and right block in the center that you can't or at least I can't add any blocks under them. No matter how I sort the blocks the half blocks are always last. Is there a way to only show the spotlighted article in the block with no other article from that category and is there a way to add content under the left/right blocks in the middle of the page?

Re: Custom Block vs. System block ordering

In order to get the block order the way you want you would have to change the block order of the "block loops" in theme.html.

Take a look at the spotlight on my site to get an idea of how a spotlight can look with blocks above and below. The center left and center right blocks you speak of will go either above or below the center blocks but not above and below.

It all has to do with the order of the "block loops" in thmem.html.

My site is http://www.warpigw2.com

jdseymour thanx for the quick response and thanx for the answer. I'll try your suggestion and see what I come up with. Do I edit the html file or do I edit the template? I noticed in the past that if I edit the theme.html nothing changes and I had to mess with the template to see the change.

Also about my other question. When I spotlight an article why are there links to orther articles from the same category listed under it? I only want that one article spotlighted with nothing else in the block.

You would edit the theme.html to change the block order. When you do this you will need to clear the template_c folder to see the changes.

The links you see are probably listed in the template for the spotlight. If you have cloned your templates, you can edit them directly.

jdseymour thanx again for the response and for answering my questions. I have one more and I'll leave you alone

I have news 1.44 installed now but I also have/had AMS module installed and noticed you post articles to it pretty much the same way you do the news module. Question is on warpigw2.com you have left right AMS articles with images included. I know you can have a topic image and tell it to be left or right when displayed but the images you have in your blocks are actually not at the tope left or right they are next to the text itself. Did you add the image within the post itself or is that some sort of hack?

Everyone - thanks for your help! I'll try messing with the template to reorder the blocks and see what happens.
