Thanks for the tutorial and advice guardian2k1. I now see that the index file located within the /xoops/ folder IS the main web page from which all other pages will be connected. I have seen it before but was confused by the admin button.

I will take your advice and find more modules, I am beginning to get a handle for how this works. This is way different than anything I've ever developed wow! Making blocks will be my expirament tonight.

Hope I don't have to bother you all much more :)

Lance, thanks for the URL... as I stated above - I didn't think that /xoops/index.php had anything to do with public users because it has an administration button and it looks very white/bare.

I understand how the basic system works now, this is a major learning curve for me.

Learning curve's not too bad, 3 or 4 years from now you'll get the hang of it!!

Lisa,
Backup your current directory and database before doing anything else. That way you can restore your site if you encounter problems.

Xoops is a little different than those site builders you read about. It's not like changing a skin on winamp or the like.

If you're still having problems you might ask someone to setup XOOPS for you, and recommend modules to use.

msdana,

At my site url playlotteryusa.com, my old site is still there same as always.

I think I found the main web page... the index file is in the mysite.com/xoops/ directory.

I have figured out a lot today. Thanks...

If you have any more info or suggestions, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Lisa

You won't need to edit anything in the XOOPS directory. All configuration should be do in the XOOPS admin interface including adding pages, blocks content. Editing anything in XOOPS could potentially break your site. So stick with XOOPS admin.
