I am so new to XOOPS that it scares me yet I love the end results of what it does. I have just started a new site totally with XOOPS 2.2.3. While setting it up, I managed to block myself out. Now I, the Admin trying to login gets the error: ldap extension not loaded.

A new user trying to register will receive a "sorry, you don't have persmission."

Can anyone help me, PLEASE????

You have activated the LDAP authentication. You must choose XOOPS in authentication method.
Go to administration/system/preferences/authentication mode and choose XOOPS.

Thats ok if you can login. You will need to change the setting in the database unless there is an option to do it from recovery.php, I think that's what it's called, sorry I don't have 2.2.3 active anywhere at the moment.

*caugh caugh*

I guess they are locked out since they switched from XOOPS authentication to LDAP. (never tried it myself)

Ok until someone else can bring up the solution this is what i would do:

- install a local xoops223
- dump the database
- change to ldap
- dump the database
- use csdiff to compare the dumps and see which table has changed
- use phpadmin to change that setting the other way round on my real website

Re: ldap ext

It should just be a 0/1 option in the _config table, but I'm not sure without installing and looking.

The last authentication patch that I post to sourceforge in october include an option to exclude a list of users from the LDAP authentication method.
For example, you can exclude admin from LDAP auth. In all case admin authenticate to XOOPS database even if you choose LDAP method.

The pathc is here :

LDAP Patch for XOOPS 2.2.3

Effectively if it is the old version, only a XOOPS database modification would be restore the configuration.

Back at home ...

You can deactivate ldap authentication like this:

- go into your db
- table: xoops_config (depending on your table prefix of course)
- field: auth_method (number 53 for me)
- set conf_value from ldap to xoops

Done.

I owe you (deanmrd) a great deal of gratitude...
You are the first person to explain in layman's terms how to fix anything.
One try and it worked great for me... I simply went into the hosting site and went through phpmyadmin rather than loading it in the site.

Once again many thanks,
