upgrade to 2.0.13.2 or 2.2.3???

Hello,

I have 3 sites running now that I have never upgraded (2.0.7, 2.0.7.3, and 2.0.9). What I can't figure out is if I am supposed to upgrade to 2.0.13.2 or 2.2.3. I read somewhere that people that upgrading should stick with the lower one unless they need some modules or something in the higher version, but I can't find ANYWHERE the differences between the two. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places. If anyone can offer me some advice I'd sure appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris

Is this a bad place to post this? Lots of people are looking but nobody is answering.

I'd advise sticking to 2.0.13.2 for the moment.

2.2.3 does offer some more advanced facilities, but it most cases - 2.0.13.2 will be more suitable.

agree! but its advisible to upgrade from your previous 2.0.7 2.0.9 versions to the latest due to the security bugs in previous versions!

Thanks for the replies, but I still have a few questions.

1. Where can I find out more info about 2.2.3 to see if I need those "advanced features", or at least to see what it is about.

2. I've never updated a site before. Can I go straight from 2.0.7 --> 2.0.13.2, or do I have to go through a series of intermediate steps for each upgrade? Or would it even be easier to do a fresh install of 2.0.13.2?

Thanks.

If you haven't done any hacking of core files.

Use the Full package of 2.0.13.2

Make a full backup of your site, including it's DB.

Overwrite your 2.0.7 install with the files of the full 2.0.13.2 package EXCEPT the mainfile.php.

Update System module.

Cheers.

I'm sorry. People are being very polite here.

Stick with the lower version as 2.2.3 is still very buggy, works with many fewer modules, and there is probably no good reason for you to upgrade to it. Most likely, you will be sorry if you do.

I looked repeatedly and haven't found a "comparison" chart. I am using 2.2.3, because when I found XOOPS that was the latest release, and I thought "okay, I'll download that", which is what most people do (download the latest release).

There are times I regret downloading 2.2.3, due to some of the modules not being supported, but I just "make do" and use plenty of plain ol' HTML.

IMO, there should be a comparison guide or at least a description of each release along with the disclaimer that many modules are not supported in 2.2.3.

If there is such documentation, it is not easily found and my apologies for not finding it.
