Can anyone explain this very strange phenomenon -

Try visiting my site in internet explorer:

First http://www.cgenie.net - it should load fine and note there is no horizontal scrollbar.

Next try a different link to exactly the same site - http://www.cgenie.com - Now if you're using explorer you'll see there's a horizontal scrollbar appeared and if you have a larger screen - some of the text has been cut off?!

It loads perfectly in firefox whichever you visit - but can anyone explain what could be causing this?!

Yup, I can verify it... this is strange indeed. I'll keep my eyes open for a possible cause and solution

Indeed this is strange.
There should be no horizontal scroll bar because you're using resizeable columns.
I've noted that the free space between the left and center column is different from the space between the right and center column.
Maybe you can try the css-validator to check your css file.

What theme (theme.html and style.css) are you using?

I'm using cleanblue theme - with only a few modifications - ie left bar removed and banner code methinks...

Just visited your site but I don't see the problem with the horizontal scrollbar anymore.
Did you make any changes or so?

no, but I think you're either using Firefox or co (not IE)
or you've gone to cgenie.NET not cgenie.COM

As above, the site works fine from the .net address on all browsers, however the .com address doesn't work in IE.

I only have IE & Firefox installed - can anyone with other browsers tell me if the .com site loads without the horizontal bar in other browsers so I can at least determine if it's IE being stupid...

Sorry, I was looking at the wrong website.

I've checked the website http://www.cgenie.com for the problem with the horizontal scrollbar with the following browsers:
Opera 8.5 build 7700: no
Netscape 8.0.4: no
FireFox 1.5: no
Internet Explorer 6: yes
Maxthon 1.5.2: yes (uses IE6 engine)

So, there's something MS doesn't like...

Looks fine to me in both IE and FireFox - no scrollbars in either
