XSAS - Still being developed and maintained?

Is the XSAS project still being supported? I notice at Sourceforge that the latest version was released in April 2004, about 18 months old. The XSAS website, while still maintained, does not appear to have any new content added nor does it appear to have progressed the XSAS version in light of developments to Xoops? For example, it is running XOOPS 2.0.6.

If XSAS isn't actively maintained, I highly recommend XAMPP as an alternative. It includes Apache, PHP, MySQL (and other stuff) in a single, easy-to-install package, and is very actively maintained. The only thing you have to add is XOOPS. I use XAMPP for development and testing on Linux, Win2K and WinXP.

I think w4z004 does not have the time but you could ask him.

I switched to xampp too. Advantage is (besides its as easy to use as xsas) that there are many versions on sf.net available so that you can even get close to the versions of php and MySQL that you run on your webhosting usually.

That's a good point about sf.net. I'm still using XAMPP 1.4.9, even though it's pretty old, because it's close to what's on the servers I use. The fact that you can switch between PHP 4 and PHP 5 is also handy.

Ugh,

If it's not actively maintained and everyone else is using XAMPP why don't we remove the link from the front page and link XAMPP instead?

Another example of dead content on the frontpage.

I tend to agree....

I have installed XAMPP as advised, and it's really great. I'm really quite impressed. Definately a good choice in place of XSAS. The features that come with it as well are just super.
