I'm attempting to trouble-shoot a module's layout. One of the things that is complicating this for me is that I don't have a full understanding of how XOOPS caches and updates module's html pages.

Is there a nice tutorial somewhere that explains how the following all work together:

1. the templaces_c directory
2. the 'Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory?
' setting in Preferences -> System -> General Settings
3. the 'update module' function in the Modules administration

In short: if I make a change to a module's php file, what do I have to do to make it show up on a browser refresh?

Thanks!

2 wayz to get changes apear strate away:

1 - empty template_c

2 - set cache to none, view module, reset cache to watever u want.

Yeah - that's what I've been doing, but wasn't sure if it was right.

Thanks

Wolfpack link good. XOOPS link bad. I've looked in the FAQ. Is there an actual tutorial on the three points I mentioned in there? If so, I missed it entirely...

Thanks!

I can't say that there isn't a tutorial for that somewhere, but I'm not aware of one.

It looks like most of your questions can be answered here - but it's in bits and pieces. (you've probably seen these already):

How does the theme work in relation to the rest of the system?
https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=244

What is the purpose of the templates_c directory?
https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=182

How do I learn about developing my own theme? (has a couple of relevant facts.)
https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=207

But usually, if you make a change to a module's .php files, you'll see it as soon as you refresh your page. Sometimes - very rarely, I find that I have to set my site to the default theme to see the changes. That has only happened twice that I recall.
