Hi.

I would like to produce an RSS feed from items in my News module.

I'm running XOOPS 2.2.3 and have News module version 1.4.

A search of this site lead me to a 3rd party module:
RSSFit fromhttp://www.brandycoke.com/products/rssfit/

From that page:
Quote:
Unlike the official XML backend of XOOPS that works just for news, webmasters can decide what to be displayed in the XML output by activating installed plug-ins.

This suggests to me that, in my case, I have no need for any other modules to perform this task apart from News itself. (Which is a good thing because RSSFit is not yet available for XOOPS 2.2.) But I haven't been able to find any information on "the official XML backend of XOOPS".

Please, does anybody have any insight that could help me out?

Many thanks.

1. AFAIK, 1.1 RSSFit works under 2.2.* XOOPS
2. <xoops_utl>/backend.php

Thanks for the fast reply.

From their own site:

Currently RSSFit is not compatible with XOOPS 2.2 and we are working on an update. As usual, please don't ask when.

Granted, the article is dated 27-Jul-05, but it is still listed as "Recent News" on the main RSSFit page (link from original post in this thread).

Anyway, as discussed, a solution integral to my existing site configuration would suit me better. I imagine pt2 of your answer refers to that - but I am sorry to have to ask for a little more information, if possible.

Just add into RSS-reader
https://xoops.org/backend.php and see results
later replace www.xoops.org by URL of your host

Got it! Thanks for the pointer, Badger.

For other newbies, if my experience helps:
In the News module preferences, enable RSS feeds. The feed is then available at www.yourxoopssite.com/backend.php

(I had been looking for the feed from the /modules/news/ directory.)
