News 1.42 dont show spotlight

So I've upgraded from news 1.3 to news 1.42 just overwritng with the news file and updating the module...
When i do that i see on the main page 100 news listed, so i go to admin > blocks e set only 5 news and one in spotlight (just like i have on v1.3) but when i turn back to the main page i have no news block... what can i do?

have a look at module's permissions in module's admin and at category selection in block's config.

In module's permission i have only checked webmasters, because i want that just webmasters approve news, and i didnt understand what you mean with category selection in blocks config, i already put spotlight to yes...

Go to System Admin - Blocks, Find the spotlight block. Click on Edit on the far right. Towards the bottom choose what topics you want to show in the spotlight.

Anybody else notice that the smileys don't work in the Spotlight Block?

Anybody know of a fix by chance?
