The term "suck" is a little harsh here, IMHO. The Sections module is limited, yes, but it allows for additional ways of publishing content. I believe it was ment as a method to publish content that is not necessarily of focal point of the site. Also, please keep in mind the the Section module has been around for a long time; long before there were as many offerings for content mangagement modules. It served its purpose in its time.
