You need to set the Extended Profiles module accessible for anonymous users in Groups Administration.
You can set in the module's preferences if anonymous users can access user profiles (if not, they will only be able to register, use the lost password feature and ask for a resend of the activation email and that's it)
In Extended Profiles -> Permissions, you can set, which groups can access which fields in the user profiles.
