I've seen on a few XOOPS sites the bottom left URL in the browser is changed to www.mysite.com/~index.php (or something similar) thus hiding the module path so it doesn't show 'www.mysite.com/modules/newbb', for example.

How is this done? I seem to recall reading that GIJOE created somewhere but I can't find it now. Do'H!

mod_rewrite?

Or explain a bit more.

I'd also like to know why you would say that. I've been going back in forth in my brain whether it's any help or not. Some say yes - some no.

Thanks

I would like to use simplified url (+ or - between elements, I don't care) but i have to manage the relative/absolute links issue of this script. For some modules it's ok, other I can eliminate from the action of this script, but what can I do with the editor (spaw in news module) to work. Spaw reports an error when I want to insert an image.
Should I modify spaw's relative links or what? I tried but I did'n make it work.
Anybody face this problem before?
Don't follow me. I'm lost too.
