I have recently started using xoops, I started with ver. 2.0.13, and everything was going great, I have decided to upgrade to ver 2.2 to take advantage of the new functionalities, however I have been disappointed many times so far from 2 things:
A: Bugs in Themes
B: Bugs in Modules

Both themes and modules are designed for ver. 2, this is an error massage I received when I try to run a theme downloaded from your site called “NewpcBlack”
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockleft.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockleft.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockright.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockright.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockright.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084
Warning [Xoops]: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "default/theme_blockright.html" in file class/smarty/Smarty.class.php line 1084

I hope someone can help know why I keep receiving these bugs, I also have deleted all the previousely installed engine and reinstalled the entire website with the database, as I suspected errors in the upgrade process, however it didn’t help.

Regards,

Ebayti

it looks like the system can't find those 2 files (themes/default/theme_blockright.html and theme_blockleft.html). Make sure these 2 files are available to see what may be causing the problems. They are part of the 2.0.x default theme.

It could also be a permissions problem. Check again to make sure that the templates_c, cache and uploads directories are CHMOD 777 / full permissions

Dear Herko,

I have checked about these files and i found them there, i tried even uploadig the entire theme again, however it didnt work out...

I'm still suspecting errors between the themes that works for Mambo ver. 2.x & 2.2, as i'm running different themes right now and they are doing just fine, while the other themes are having this error.

Please note that i have tested these themes on ver. 2.x and they have been working perfectely.

Please try testing these themes on 2.2 and see if it will work or not...

Dear rowdie,

I have done a complete revision on the 3 directories, and they having CHMOD 777, full permision.

The problem doesnt go only on themes, however it goes further to some Modules.

While some modules work perfectely, others are not, and generating error messages.

Thanking you,

eBayti

Dear All,

I know that XOOP is a free open source application, however that doesnt mean that a huge bugs happen in the new release that its ment to be "Stable" and for more then couple of weeks we recieve no responce for solving the modules errors.

I have tried installing many modules that i downloaded from the official XOOPS site, where i made sure that its written on it, supporting ver. 2, and still when i try installing it, i recieve many error in the modules.

This can kill the trust of the users whom trying to build a real website online or real e-commerce gateway online.

My Question, what is the level of trust that i can get, when implementing XOOPS ver. 2.2 if i cant find a solution for a basic module support problem ?

Regards,

eBayti
