When I download a themes from the library, do all of the modules that I see come with it?

So the theme is the colors, lines, styles? Is the column layout part of what I download?

Hi and welcome to Xoops.
Some modules have specific themes to handle their data, as such a new theme might now fully impact specific modules. In case you need to change something, just go into that modules directory and change the css file (the majority of modules use a css file to format the design bit).

Yes, the theme controls color, letter type and size, block design etc. It can also change the column layout, going from a standard 3 column display (such as xoops.org) to a 1 column fixed width layout. If you browse through the theme library you will find many and varied themes. You can also install a whole bunch in one go, then turn the theme browser block on. That way you can check each theme from your own XOOPS install, going back and forth to each theme.

Then from that point I can select modules? Do I have to cut and paste the html code into the template of the page or do I simply press install or activate module and it will show up where it should?

Xoops does everything automaticly for you. To install a module here's a flash tutorial that walks you step by step through the process:

When you install a theme and activate it, it will impact all past, present and future modules you install.
