I notice you have a 'members' option in the side panel which enables you to search the members list - how do I add this?

Is there a way to add/enable search by group?

Is there a way to display a list of groups in the side panel?

Is there a way for new members to join a group at registration?

There is a hack around for users to imput a code at regitration to join a group.

Or you might like to check out MC subscriptions

***EDIT***

Forget that, in 2.2 you can add the group field to the profile and then make it available at registration.

At the top is add field which gives you the following options

Title
Description
Category Default
Name
Field Type

but there is nothing about group selection or making it available in registration

Dear All,

I was waiting for months for V2.2 in order to be able to use the facilities of "Extended Profiles" but now I realise that it is so complicated!

Well, for Annie: It is there but...

Go to: Fields --> Add Field
Give a Title, Description, Name?, category (default?) and choose "Group Select" in the Field Type. Then press submitt and Here it is!

Then, you can define permissions AND make it Required and/or Visible in the Registration Form.

BUT (as in my case), IF I sellect all Groups, when I press Submit I get an ERROR.

After some Edits, YES it finally works!

Hey it WORKS !!!

Thank you so much!!

One problem ... on the registration form it shows anonymous users and webmaster as options that can be selected which I obviously dont want.

Can i delete the anonymous user group or will it prevent the guests count in the who's online showing

Can I delete the webmasters or will that delete the admin login (I think I'm down as a webmaster)

Sorry Annie, I have no idea! I found it playing around.

I am not a programmer and I also wish that somebody can help us both!

EDIT: By the way, if anybody wants to have a look, Here it is! There is no reason to register - it is a temporary test-site.

In 2.2 you just click on the extended profiles button on the main menu to access member search.
It links to here:
modules/profile/search.php

It means when you add fields to the user profiles you can group them by categories.

Example:
Default:
Username
Email
etc etc

Favorite things
Pets
Websites
Colour
etc etc
