Ok, so I just posted another post asking for help with my menus etc as all menus in the control panel and some menus and links on the main public side of the site are displaying constants instead of titles.

I now have another problem (the first is not resolved yet, so might be related)

If I go to the control panel, hold the mouse over the menus, I get the list of un-identifiable links, holding my mouse over each one gives the link address in the status bar, going to the modules menu so that I can try to update my modules produces a screen which says:

System Configuration

and hase a few empty boxes and that is it.

can anyone suggest to me what I need to do to get my system working again?

Dave

Not sure what the problem was but uploaded a lot of files from an older backup, I was still having the same problems.

SO tried to just update the site in its present state and that did not work because I could not run the update script.

Anyway replaced the files with those of an older backup, left it a few minutes and everything seems to have gone back to normal.
