news can use the image manger for images, and has option for setting a time when to post and expiry date, so in essence yes, but i don't think it's a recommended way or whether it would work as you require.
you could try extCal v2 beta 2 (it works well, but you'll need a small hack to be able to delete events as it's a beta and the delete part wasn't done)
there's also the latest pical module too.. i can't remember the links, but the search block may provide you with some discussions where you could get the link from :)
