Well BMCouto,
That form of thinking kind of goes both ways. Some current versions of modules may not work with older versions of XOOPS. There has been a lot of security fixes that the DEV team has felt were necessary to release several security fix versions since then.
XOOPS does it's best to keep backward compatibility, but when a security fix is released, as well as modules become unsupported by the developers it can quickly become dangerous (for your sites data) to use.
I have done 3 upgrades since I started using XOOPS, and have yet to find a module, that I want to use, not work. And if I do updated modules can usually be found on the developers site.
Even with version 4 of XOOPS or XOOSphere, backwards compatibility is a key focus of development. I do hope you consider upgrading. I have a tutorial (in flash) on my site to guide you through the process.
From 2.0.6 the upgrade path would be:
2.0.6 to 2.0.7
2.0.7 to 2.0.9.2
2.0.9.2 to 2.0.10
That would put you in line for a 2.2 upgrade when it is released. CBB, for one, is currently in a feature freeze until the release of version 2.2, then further development will continue and new features will be added.
The longer you wait to upgrade, the harder it is to stay current, as well as getting proper support from this forum.
HTH.
