Are there any tutorials for creating a XOOPS theme with CSS instead of tables? Found only some that describe the "old" way.

perhaps look HERE where you will find a pdf*info how i madde a theme some time ago

I used css to create my site, take a look at the source and you can see how it was done.

Take a look HERE for an example of a tableless, centre-content-first layout.

I implemented the Blue Robot 'Flanking Menus' layout which in tests proved to be the most stable cross-browser/platform method I found.
