I maintain a website for an emergency services agency. Part of the website is to post news releases and photos of incidents. I am currently using myalbum and the news module to handle this, but its not the best solution as I have seen other (non xoops) based sites using photo story systems. (I believe ASP based).

Is there something or can there be something that allows someone to create a module that allows an author to upload a story and, say, 10 pictures? So that the front page would list the story followed by the pictures related to the story.

Bascially merging News and Gallery together instead of having them independent and semi-interacting.

Also, does anyone know of any such PHP script anywhere (xoops or not) that can handle this task, I would be interested in porting it to Xoops.

hmm u could modify the weblog 1.42 module.
the developer is currently implementing the image function for it.

I took a look at the suggested resource and, unfortunately, it is something different than what I had in my head. It's funny, apparently photo stories are a popular thing and thus far, the systems they use are completely asp based. I'm curious why no PHP system... I wish I had the time to write the script, but my PHP is weak at best and my time, well, doesn't exist...

Ultimately, my goal is to have a story and a link to the gallery that contains the photos for that story. With the story, I would like to have a picture from the gallery inserted.

Can I do this from within xoops, or should I just use the module that provides me with the ability to insert outside html/php environments in to the XOOPS formatting. Either way, I just want to have a gallery and an article and have them presented together.

i like the 1st one. and that is made out of php.
They are using the coppermine photo gallery which is here:

Coppermine photo gallery has been ported into XOOPS before. But I never quite use it before. The module is called Xcgallery or Xcgal. I am not very sure whether they are still developing the module and whether it works in the latest XOOPS version.
