HI,
I was looking through my stats, and saw quite a few searches for "Harvey Westbury Corp" I checked google, and here is the search:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLD%2CGGLD%3A2004-50%2CGGLD%3Aen&q=harvey+westbury+corp&btnG=Search

The strange thing is, google shows the URL as my site (http://www.netboater.com/modules/mylinks/visit.php?cid=13&lid=62), but goes directly to: garrysroyalsatin.com, bypassing my site completely.

Anyone know why this is?

Because the link is just like clicking on a link from within the module. It takes you to the site via visit.php.

Hmmm...Is there anyway to prevent this?

Robots.txt add mylinks to disallow. Then the links will not be indexed. But I do not think that is what you want.

No, but it would be nice if they were to stop by my site instead of going right to the linked site.

Any way to do this?

Google is going through your site to get there. They just don't stop to say Hi. Googles job is to find relevant links to sites, and only offer links to the sites requested. If they stopped at every site that had a link, and the user had to click again to get there google would quickly loose users.

So they are still using your site, just going through and not stopping.

Just an idea... Maybe checking the referer, to see if the link was accessed from outside our site, and then check the user agent to see if its an important search engine, like google, msn or yahoo... in this case, we can redirect to the "singlelink" page.

anyone can implement this?

Add this line:

$xoopsTpl->assign('xoops_meta_robots', 'noindex, nofollow');


Just above the last line "?>"

This will tell the search engines not to index or follow the link.

But exactly where should i put that? On the singlelink page?

i was looking now... theres links to the site on the cat view and in the singlepage... but if a put that line of code on the cat view, google wont index the singlelink, were the description of the link is....

i'm not entirely up on robots, but would just having index instead of noindex work? as nofollow will stop it following..

but i dunno if google will penalise u for it..
