News problem!!

Hi!
I have a News problem. Don't know if it's connected, but after I installed and uninstalled News2 and Alter8news, and installed Newscategory, I cannot post anymore with News. Now it says "error". Anybody knows what's wrong with it and how to fix it?

Hi again!!!
A relationed question: anybody knows if it's possible to uninstall and install again the News module or, eventually,to update version 1.2 to 1.3 preserving all the posts?

On the second question, export your tables in the database prior to uninstalling. when you uninstall a module the tables and all content are removed from the database.

The first question, I have no idea. Have you tried any of the debugging options to get more information on the error?

In the debugging options there is no more information about this error. And, instead of export my tables in the database, I decided -for more simplicity- to copy and paste in word the few posts that I sent. Now I'll uninstall and reinstall News 1.2 or probably I can install directly News 1.3. Is that right?

Yes, copy and paste is good for clean install of News 1.3.

Hi again!

I've just uninstalled News 1.2 and tried to reinstall it to check if it's all OK, but I found two errors: 1) In the uninstalling process, it says "ERROR: Could not drop table xoops_categories". I think that I have to delete it manually 'cause I installed previously News categories and it's not exactly a module that you can uninstall; and 2) When I tried to reinstall the News 1.2 module, it says the following:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'catname varchar(40) NOT NULL default '', PRIMARY KEY (storyid), KEY idxstor' at line 1
Unable to install news.

Any idea?

Only the first one, sorry. Yes you need to manually drop that table.

The syntax error I do not know about. Drop the table and try again. I would go straight with news 1.3.
