How to get downloads, downloading?

Hi I was just wondering how you get downloads working with xoops. Basically, I type in the download url (http://www.e-thinking.co.uk...) etc and it does not do anything else but page not found.

What does a download url look like?

ps: also how do I change the XOOPS footer text to say something else? he he dont ask much sorry.

download url can be - http:// or ftp://yourdomain.com/files/file-verion.minorversion.zip (tar.gz, rar, ace, 7z)
Footer can be changed from administration/system/preferences - Meta Tags and Footer
