I downloaded XOOPS a couple of days and trying to figure out ways to do my site.

I know this is too much to ask in one shot, but if someone could show me the right direction, will greatly appreciate it.

I want to build a simple site with a bar on the top (Horizondally) with clickable fields and preferably without any leftside and rightside coulums (just one plain body of text). Content on the body will be some artwork description with one or more images for a description (its something like what we see when we click a topic in this forum, we see multiple answers, one after another).

(1) please tell me an easy theme that i can use.
(2) do i need any module/blocks? are there any suitable ones.
(3) how do i have an admin page where i can enter the contents and others won't see it.

Thanks a lot.....

Hi

I think you need to be prepared to do some research here.
1. First and foremost read the XOOPS documentation.

2. Yes you will need modules - and this depends very much on your purpose. Once again do the research - go to the lodule reposistory and browse through the available modules. Ask questions of the writers - look for reviews and feedback. There are modules for all kinds of purposes so before you begin decide what type of content and interaction from the user you want on your site. It is easier to work with these before you work on the theme - the content is much more important than the look!

3. Go to the themes library. Check them out, read the reviews and make your decision. Try downloading and installing a few themes to find the one that feels right for you.

4. (3) how do i have an admin page where i can enter the contents and others won't see it.

When you login to your site as admin you can then go to the admin page - your will become familiar with this area very quickly. Once again you must make the effort to read the XOOPS docs.
Choosing what remains private to you and public to users comes down to the way you show or hide the 'blocks' that result from using a module. This is not the place to explain it all -

There are some other tutorials here that you may find useful.

Hope this helps - good luck with your research
Jenny
