Xoops.org server load?

My website compares to Xoops.org, using Alexa.com, is about the same ranking, average of 150 concurrent users. My whole server 2 GBRAm Dual Pentium 2.4GHz dedicated to my XOOPS websites and at nite the server loads sometimes reach to 40!!! I wonder if Xoops.org server load would ever reach that high? Is it a normal thing? never crash my server but delay getting into the websites is very obvious at nite.

The XOOPS.org server is powered by a dual celeron 733 mhz and 2 GB RAM, and has a load average of 14 maximum (this is the daily average, not the peaks). Using MySQL 4 with cached queries and a PHP accelerator (Zend or TurckMMCache) really helps.
