How to change permissions from within XOOPS?

Hello,

I want to change permission from files and directories from within XOOPS because I work most of the time from behind a firewall which denies FTP-usage.
I installed the Invision Filemanager XOOPS Module. With it I can snoop around but make no changes. The same for Filemanager 3.0. I cant't upload files and change permissions.
It looks like I'm not recognized as the owner of the filesystem. It's a unix filesystem, running Apache and Register Globals are OFF.
Has anybody suggestions how I could get this right? I would be very happy because I'm stuck for three days now.

what ftp client do you use? if it has an option then try and set it to connect using PASV mode (it's intended for use behind firewalls) also if u can possibly allow your ftp program access to port 21 then it should work.. maybe you could try that method..

i think those programs (filemanager) work the same as ftp clients so if your firewall is blocking those ports then that might be y you can't work it.. worth a try with PASV mode anyway :)

I tried it at home as well now. It seems that the Invision File Manager Module doesn't work there as well.

I installed the "Net 2 FTP" module. This does the job very well. I will test it tomorrow from behind a strict firewall which blocks port 21.

Thanks for your support.

As promised the update.

This solution works great! I can move files around, change permissions, upload and download. I can do maintenance on my sitefrom behind a firewall that blocks Filezilla.
I think the difference with "Invision", "Filemanager 3.0", etc is that I log in now on the account I got from my ISP. It seems that XOOPS prevents me from using my "root-rights" in my filesystem, even if I am the webmaster. I'm wondering now if this is normal or is there something wrong in my installation/settings. I've no problems encountered in the other modules I use......yet

Anyone a suggestion?
