Easy one (I think): How do I keep the image in my header from tiling in larger displays? I just want to center it.

Ummm, I think you maybe refering to a background image?

This will repeat unless you change its permaeters. repeat-x and repeat-y

if you want a single image in the centre, why not use the logo and make its position centre.

I mean $xoops_banner, it tiles across the header to fill it. If you check out my site (www.burning-river.com) you'll see what I mean. It's hard to notice because the gif is fairly large (approx 790px wide) but I want to change it to a banner with my logo and it looks like crap.
