Here is my situation. I would like people to be able to see the postings in my forum, galleries, weblogs and other things without registering and logging in. If they want to post then they will have to register/login. Now as it stands, they can't see the forums, galleries and weblogs unless they login.

Can someone shed some light on this?

Yes you need to set the group permissions.
