SQL syntax errors when trying to install standard modules.

when i try to install the news module 1.3 i get the error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'KEY search (title,hometext,bodytext) ) TYPE=MyISAM' at line 32

when i try to install the forum forum 2.01 i get the error:

You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'KEY search (post_text) ) TYPE=MyISAM' at line 6

why? and how to solve?

MySQL 3.22.32

if i remove the KEY FULLTEXT ... form the sql file, it runs without errors. yet i'm not sure what the consequences will be of the removal...

Xoops requires MySQL version 3.23 or higher..

higher is preferable..
