Hello all, I installed XOOPS yesterday and have loads of questions... but they can all wait.

There's one thing I really need. I run a group of Morris Dancers. <pause for laughter> We go out on many evenings and weekends and not everyone goes to every event. I would like some kind of diary system for the admin organising it to put up a list of events with dates times and comments and each dancer to be able to say yes/no to each event so we can see who is going to what and if we have enough support to go ahead.

I've looked through the modules and can't see anything which fits the bill. I dare say that given a few years, I could write one myself but my knees will have given out by then and I'll have stopped dancing.

Is there anywhere else I can look? Is there any way of requesting some clever bod to write one?

Thanks

Andy.

Hello Twonames and welcome to XOOPS forums

Re your questions ... check out the FAQ link on the left here. There's lots of useful material for new users

The module you request already exists. I can't tell you which one it is ATM, but it something like a rosta or booking system. Games/clan sites also use something like this I think.

I'll have a search and post back.

Thanks loudo for picking this up

Here are 2 others I found. MRBS and
Team

I imagine these all have different function as a module, so you'll have to experiment a bit.

Thanks both for the help. I will go and play.

Next few burning questions are how to change the colour schemes, losing the XOOPS banner at the top of the page...

Also, my ISP is Force9. The servers with the PHP and MySQL on them are separate from my main area (a restriction from f9, not me) So for picture galleries and the like it would be handy to have the images stored in one place and the php stuff in the other. Is that doable?

Feel free to tell me to RTFM.....

You can edit the colour scheme by editing the theme css file (style.css)

To get rid of the XOOPS banner delete <{$xoops_banner}> from the theme.html (theme file).

Nope, because XOOPS checks that everything comes from the same root as this then could be considered as cross site scripting. it's a security measure. (But then again, someone might prove me wrong on that lol)

I have several images in my site articles that are stored on another server. They are called from imagescr=full_URL_OF_OFFSITE_IMAGE or
<img border="0" src="http://otherdomain.com/images/myimage.png" width="127" height="78">

Seems to work ok and does reduce the size of my files backups!

If you do this non of your banners will show, which is ik if you don't want banner ads at the top of your page.
If you do want to keep banners, or might want to in the future, you can delete the banners by adim->system->banners
